Sunday afternoon with Daddy

Today was terrific!  We scrapbooked in church school.  It was our last day of the year.  Alicia walked through the baptismal font and then got her feet washed for moving onto 9th grade.

When we got home, my dad wanted to go to Tractor Supply to pick up a canopy-thing.  While there, I remembered that my horse, Sassy had some rain rot on her back.  My horse trainer told me a good medicine to buy so my dad bought it.  I had fun riding on the heavy-duty cart.  Once we got home, I dressed for barn chores in my jeans and my Vestal volleyball shirt.  When we finally got out to the barn, I fed my goat, Loniga.  After Loniga, I fed Scooby and let her run around.  Once my dad finished feeding the chickens and giving the horses their water, he told me he wanted to muck out the chickens' stall, horses' stalls, and porch.  Immediately, I knew I didn't want to do that so I decided to train Sassy.  I wanted to teach her that when I say, "ho" it doesn't mean to put her head down and eat.  After, I finished training her that, I brought her in her stall and started brushing her.  When I finished brushing her I remembered the medicine so I got one of the bath brushes and put a little of the medicine on it and dabbed it on her back.  I used the bath brush because I didn't want to use my hands like my trainer said because it was all greasy.  It smelled extremely bad so I led her outside to get fresh air.

When I was outside, I heard Loniga baaing loudly so I checked out what was happening.  Loniga was trying to butt Patches with his horns.  Meanwhile, Patches was trying to nip at Loniga.  They kept this up until Patches got a good nip causing Loniga to do a big BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA and ran out of his stall.  Then, after a minute, he went back into Patches' stall and did it again!!!!  Loniga was fine though.  I love my goat! :P

I finished my time outside playing wiffle ball with Alicia and Julia.  Julia and I won 4-0!

It was a good day in the country.

I would do just about anything, except pet one of those chickens!!, than muck stalls. I would even take the time to train my horse to balance my checkbook! You had a busy day... it makes my grocery shopping, church, soccer/softball practice, Brownies party at Build a Bear, and combing lice outta small people's hair seem like a vacation! Enjoy your life in the country...

Sounds like you had a great day. I love how you take care of all your animals and how you paid special attention to your horse my daughter loves horses she rides three days a week and will soon be getting ready to go to shows. I also like how you scrapped in church that is awsome and I'm glad you spent time with your dad and your sisters. Hope you have a good week at school and all your activites.

Sounds like a busy day! I am wondering what kind of animals Scooby and Patches are? So what does "ho" mean for your horse? Training Sassy sounds much more enjoyable than mucking stalls!! I'd say good choice on your part! Enjoy your week at school. I'll be looking forward to seeing my good friend, your mom! She makes doing a hard job much more enjoyable.

I loved reading your blog, Sarah! I feel very lazy after reading about all you did.....and I am hoping that humans can't get "rain rot" because it sounds nasty! Your animals are very lucky to have someone take care of them like you and your sisters and parents do. Keep up the great blogs!

It sounds like you all made really good use of your Sunday time. I would surely find something else to keep me busy, too, rather than muck out stalls and pens, especially the chicken ones; THAT smell is horrendous! Keep up the great blogging!

Sarah, my almost 11 year old Kasey who wants a horse of her own would come and muck all the stables for you anytime just to be able to ride. I hope she gets to meet you and Sassy some day. What a great way to spend your day, and thanks for sharing!
